Many EmeTerm users notice that their device delivers weaker stimulation at the same intensity setting they used in summer, as summer turns to autumn.
A lot of users assume this means their device is broken. In most cases, however, this change comes from seasonal conditions, the way you wear the device, and electrode maintenance — it is not a product malfunction. Below we break down the causes and simple fixes.
What Causes Weaker Stimulation
Dry autumn air increases skin resistance
In humid summer weather, your skin stays moist and electric current reaches the acupoint more easily. When fall arrives and humidity drops, skin becomes drier, which raises skin resistance. At the same device setting, less current reaches the acupoint, and you will feel weaker stimulation.
Extra clothing and static interfere with electrode contact
Layered clothing and knit fabrics in fall create static electricity from friction. Static can make contact between the electrodes and your skin less stable. Thick clothing may also stop the wristband from lying flat against your skin, further reducing current transfer.
Dirty, poorly maintained electrodes raise resistance
With repeated use, EmeTerm electrodes collect sweat salts, skin oils, dead skin cells and leftover gel residue. This buildup forms a high-resistance layer that blocks current and weakens stimulation. This issue is common with older devices that have not been cleaned regularly.
Solutions
Prepare your skin before use
Clean the skin where the electrodes sit with a damp wipe, or apply conductive gel. Slightly moist skin lowers resistance and helps deliver a steady TEAS current.
Clean electrodes regularly
Wipe residue off the electrodes after each use, and clean the metal contacts periodically. This keeps the electrodes conductive and prevents buildup that weakens stimulation over time.

Support
If stimulation remains weak after prepping your skin and cleaning the electrodes, please contact the EmeTerm support team. They can help troubleshoot and evaluate whether a replacement is needed.
Reduced stimulation caused by seasonal changes is not a device fault. Simple skin preparation before use and regular electrode maintenance will help your EmeTerm work consistently.
